Word for Wednesday

WORD FOR WEDNESDAY: YON.

We were singing Christmas Carols, and one line from Silent Night caught my attention: "Round yon virgin mother and child."

I remember wondering as a kid, what is YON?

Yon is an adjective or adverb meaning: Yonder

It can also be a pronoun, "that or those yonder."

But as a child, it sang like "roundyon virgin."

The kids are practicing memorizing allkinds of prayers right now and I'm waiting for my kids to ask what a virgin is...
I hope they ask what yon means instead!

Thank you Kim! I've always wondered what yon meant! lol I suppose I'm a kid who never grew up.

I remember that - all those mysterious words in the Christmas carols and prayers...

I'm laughing at Kelly's comment - I did have to field that one...I think I said innocent, and stuffed more cookies in their mouths before they could ask any more questions.

Kelly: This is a perfect example of not seeing the forest through the trees - I'm thinking "Yon" and there are other things to think about ;)

That made me laugh.

I always sang that as "round young virgin" when I was a kid.

LOL Kelly! I know what you mean. I love the movie "Hocus Pocus" but hate that part where a virgin had to light the candle. Disney made such a big deal out of that and it wasn't necessary.

Rena: I remember that now. It's been so long since I had to be concerned. My kids are all adults now. I still don't like all the killing. Over the holiday the boys went and saw the new Bond - we girls went and saw Twilight.

I love that. Boys seeing Bond and girls Twilight. I'm hoping to see Twilight soon myself. It's supposed to come to Korea soon!
