Cooking . . . ?

Two ovens are better than one. That's my motto. And since I LOVE food and eating, I can use two ovens to cook all the faster in.

Unfortunately my Victorian home (built in 1890) didn't have any place for a wall oven but, heck, that's not holding me back at least not when I have a handy-husband sitting around the house. So, I put my husband to work, cutting holes into the walls of my kitchen to create a wall oven and microwave slot.

All the better to feed you with my dear.

WAH-LAH!!! My new wall oven.

If you have any fun recipes I might want to try - please put them in the comments section. I'm planning an oven party...

Here is a wonderfully easy cobbler.

Preheat oven to 350

1/4 cup butter
1 cup self-rising flour (I use whole wheat self-rising)
1 cup milk (I use soy milk)
2/3 cup raw brown sugar
1 tbs cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
2 pints blackberries (or an equal amount of other fruit like cubed peaches or raspberries or...)

Melt butter in microwave in 2 quart baking dish/bowl. Set aside. In a separate bowl (this is important) mix together flour, milk, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour flour mixture into butter. DO NOT STIR or MIX BUTTER INTO THE BATTER. Scatter berries or fruit evenly over the batter.

Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until a knife comes clean. The cobble should be brown and bubbly around the sides.

Hmmmm, hm goood!

That' an awesome looking wall oven, Kim. Your hubby does such nice work! I can see how this will come in handy.

How beautiful! You're going to be baking LOTS of treats for your hubby for a while. No recipes in mind, but I'm sure you've got a load of them. (Bish's cobbler sounds good.)
