Buy Books for the Holidays

Who wouldn't want a good read on a dark and stormy night?

It's winter: wet, cold and time to curl up inside a cozy chair. So, pull the blanket up around your chin and read, read, read.

Jen Robinson has a post about this very subject. Read it here.

And, if we still haven't convinced you, read this post here.

Books are awesome presents! I love giving them and I love getting them. My seventeen-year-old is such an avid reader. She would be happy with just a giftcard to Borders. She can spend all day in there or at the library. And to think the teacher wanted to put her into a special reading group in the 1st grade! (I said no to that, btw, and worked with her at home).

My nine-year-old just found a book for his six-year-old brother last night for Christmas. We're obviously a nerdy book family. ;)

Rena: We are too. My sons have an on-line comic strip aimed at the gaming guys crowd and they are working - now and then - on a graphic novel together.

I have always loved to read. Just finished the first book in the True Blood Series by Charlaine Harris: Dead Until Dark and I bought the second one last night: Dead in Dallas.

There, you see it, my twisted side.

I always tell people that all I want for Christmas is books, but I am rarely believed. I've always given books as some of my holiday presents, but I am going to try to step it up a bit this year.

How do you like the True Blood books, Kim?

I haven't read the links that you provided (yet) but I feel a burden everytime I read my Publishers weekly report and hear how publisher and book stores are crashing like crazy. I've vowed to buy books this year, just to help out with the book buyers crunch. Economy and the Amazon monster (great prices, but bad for book stores)

I'm with you, Kim! Just got back holiday shopping at Borders. I also picked up a few at Target, too.

I agree! I always try to give at least one book to everyone we swap gifts with...and I always have books on my wishlist...

I totally agree! I have quite a few on my wish list, and my kids love gift cards for the book store...they beg to go there.
