Fifty Shades

So I just downloaded the book on my kindle. I don't know if I'll like it. . . or even what I'll think but everyone's talking about it so I want to know what all the hype is about and I don't think it's fair to judge a book by its cover or its hype so...I'm going to find out for myself what all this talk is about.

Have you read the book...are you willing to admit it...? What did you think?

I'll let you know when I'm done...

I read all three, twice. I even blogged about it: http://jenontheedge.com/2012/07/17/50-shades-of-naughty/

In short, the books are terribly written, but I still found them engrossing and somewhat compelling.

Yes, terribly written is apt. I read the first book and the first book only. I can see why it would appeal to so many women, but it was pretty hard going for a man to read. I always try to be open-minded, but this was a stretch. I only did it because a female friend asked me if I would. I think she did it for ****s and giggles, though. And I probably read it just to prove to her I could. :)

I skimmed a few chapters online and cannot, CANNOT get past the shoddy writing.

Yes, I read the trilogy this summer. All the moms on my son's baseball team read it and raved. I needed to read it too. And now I can get any pop culture references of it!
It's not the best written. I cringed several times due to the poor writing in some parts. I skimmed over the endless "adult" scenes. BUT anything (within reason) that gets millions reading is okay by me. It did entertain me. I am glad I read it!
