HOMEMADE HOLIDAYS
I’ve been getting ready for Halloween.
But now I’m starting to make things for Thanksgiving and the fall to replace
those decorations. I’m even getting ready for Christmas. It’s never too early
to start making a few gifts when you have a huge extended family. Yes, I know, some
people might think I go a little overboard, but I’ve always decorated for EVERY
holiday. Even as a little girl, growing up in a house with 9 kids and granny in
the back bedroom, we used things found in the yard and around the house to
decorate. We’d string popcorn for the birds and build oddities from leftover
lumber because my dad worked in a lumber mill; he could get scraps of wood for
us to use for the holidays.
Anyway, here are a couple of things I’ve
made in the last week or two.
I made this stuffed cat for my granddaughter
from a small piece of leftover Pendleton Wool I used to make a couple of pillow
covers from. I also made this little quilted blanket for my granddaughter…because
Michaels now has yardage of fabric. Thank God, because I’ve been missing Joann
Fabrics soooo much.
I’ve also been working on this Halloween House that I’m going
to hang in the yard as a birdhouse.
I have a lot more ideas for things I want to make, but if you’re
interested, you’ll just have to check back here or on my YouTube channel to see
what some of those things will be.
Until then, Happy Holiday preparations.
