Okay, it's fall - time to go back. You know the old saying: "Spring forward, fall back." Right? Well, my son was not quite so familiar with it. We started talking about Daylight Savings Time and why it was started.
The practice began in 1895, and was instigated by George Vernon Hudson.
Some credit Benjamin Franklin with proposing DST because he wrote a letter to France suggesting they get up earlier and use the morning hours to get things done. He is famous for many reasons including his proverb, "Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise".
