A GREAT MOVIE - The Duchess - with Keira Knightley

Even if you don't like historical movies, you will love the costumes and hair. They couldn't have been done any better and Keira Knightley is one of the most beautiful women alive today. But, that is just the beginning.

This is the true story of the Duchess of Devonshire, who befriends Lady Spencer, played by Charlotte Rampling. Unfortunately, Lady Spencer betrays the Duchess in a tragic turn of events.

This is a heart wrenching story that will cause even the most cynical of viewers to have to hide a tear.

I agree. I liked this movie a lot when I saw it in the theater back in October. I had my issues with it, but overall it was better than I had expected. Probably because it was based on some historical record.

You can read the review I wrote at the time here:

Ohhh David, your review is a full review. Mine was just a tease.

I really enjoyed the show.

I don't watch many movies, too busy reading and writing, but you can bet I'll have a review of Underworld's Rise of the Lycan's - probably on Jan 24th - 'cause it comes out on Jan 23rd ;-)

I loved the costumes. Fabulous!

I'm pretty sure I'll be watching Underworld, too, Kim. I somewhat enjoyed the first two, but I don't know what I think about having Kate Beckinsale replaced. This new girl was okay in that flick, Doomsday, but she's no Beckinsale. :)

David: I didn't know Beckinsale was going to be replaced :( She is another absolute beauty and a good actress too.

I'll have to check out some trailers. Thanks for the heads-up.

Well, to be fair she's not literally replacing Beckinsale as the character of Selene was not yet born at the time this movie takes place. It's a prequel telling the tale of how Viktor's daughter, Sonja, fell in love with a Lycan.

Sonja's being played by Rhona Mitra.

Hope that clears it up some. :)

It looks like a great film. Keira seems like a perfect person for the role.

Oh that's right David. Now I remember this will be a prequel about Lucius and Sonja.

I really liked the first two - it's so rare to have New twists on vampire plots. Nothing deep, meaningful or educational - just entertaining.
