Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris - Just finished

I have been so into the True Blood series. I first found the story on HBO and I loved it.

But, when the season ended, being the true fanpire that I am, I had to do something since I went into immediate TB addiction withdrawal. I had to get my Sookie and Bill fix. But with the show on a hiatus until March, I couldn't wait THAT long.

Have I mentioned, "I'm not the most patient person in the world"?

So, without the weekly show to satisfy my thirst (he-he), I had to find another way to get my fill of True Blood and Sookie.

And, just to let you know, where there's a free will, there's a way.

So I ran right down to the bookstore and bought my first Harris novel: Dead Until Dark. But, that was just the beginning. From there, I read:

2) Living Dead in Dallas
3) Club Dead
4) Dead to the World; and,
5) Definitely Dead

Now, I'm on my way through number six. I've read the first chapter of All Together Dead, which was offered as a special preview at the end of Definitely Dead. And, I have the hardback copy of From Dead to Worse - waiting. . .

So, I'm here to say, if you love a good romance novel, with a little paranormal spice thrown in for good measure, Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Romance Series is well worth the read(s).

And, if you've read any of the books or, if you run out and get one and read it tonight, let me know. I love talking shop: books.

You've got me intrigued now. I've never read any vampire books other than Twilight- which I loved. So I may have to check them out when I go back to the States this summer.

I'm excited that there are so many in the series to look forward to. Question: I have Dead after Dark. I want to read it but I want to see each series then the book for some reason...(I'm usually the opposite, want to read the book then see the movie) But with a cliffhanger each week, I want to be surprised. Does Dead after Dark end where the series ended this year, Kim?

Don't be afraid to read the series ( remember it's not just the books you have to also find and read secret short stories to get the whole story ) the books and the TV show are differnt but you'll love them both for what they are
They are the blue print Alan Ball and the HBO writers are using...

For you authors, i met charlaine last week and i have the video , photos etc -she talks alot about the characters and writing
Thanks, "Dallas"

Christina: I'm a true Fanpire and have been since Stephen King's Salem's Lot.

Kelly: They aren't exactly the same. Hollywood took some license with the story so they have differences. Not as bad as, say, like with Stephen King's The Shining, where the hero in the book gets killed immediately in the movie but ... kind of.

I think you could read Dead Until Dark and it wouldn't effect the series. But, I think, then you'd want to read book 2, book 3 and...

I've never read this series, but you've got me intrigued. Is it for adults or for teens?

I may have to check these out-the author sounds familiar. They're a little funny, right?

I've never read any vampire books for YA or adult. The last vampire book I read was a pop-up called "Dracula Goes to the Dentist". Yep, the story of my life!

I think some of the most romantic books are the ones that have vampires in them...call me strange, but I love the mystery and excitement and the...um..okay, I think I will check out this series...grin...

Bridget: The books are what I would call "young adult/adult" the HBO series is what I would call "adult".

GG: Harris definitely has a sense of humor and doesn't take herself to seriously - which, I think, is a good thing in a writer.

They sexed it up for HBO - or maybe it's just that my imagination, when I'm reading, is way more conservative 'cause I was WAY surprised to see what I saw on T.V. I was like, "Can they do THAT on t.v.?"

I guess they can, if it's HBO. The books have more romance - IMO.

I couldn't quite get into the series although it has my curiosity, I'm just too lazy to watch all the episodes. I know isn't that bad. I'd much rather read the books!
