HAPPY ST. PADDY'S DAY!
The photo is of Hamlet's Castle
The most famous ghost tale of all time has more to do with greed than anything else. But the questions is, “How interesting can an old dead dude really be?” And how exciting could an ancient bookworm seem - even a well-known writer like William Shakespeare?
Listen and you might be surprised.
Shakespeare's stories are often tales of tragedy, murder and mayhem and they are still able to captivate young audiences. His stories are sometimes set in awesome structures.
What kid can resist a mystery set in a beautiful but haunted castle? Hamlet is just such a story.
Shakespeare weaves his web of deception in Denmark. It is here, where this tale of deceit, greed and betrayal begins. This story is the reason behind the famous saying, "There's something rotten in the state of Denmark."

Shakespeare, despite the language, is timeless. My favourites are 'Romeo & Juliet' and 'Much Ado about Nothing'.
I agree, everyone should read Shakespeare's classics at some point!
I love Shakespeare thanks to a fabulous teacher I once I had. I could sit in class for hours and discuss the writing of Shakespeare to this very day, if given the chance.
Fun to see some of what gave him his creative mind!
I can't remember the actor who portrayed Hamlet in the movie I'm thinking of. He had wild looking eyes and white hair. (Not the one with Mel Gibson, I thought that version was cheezy.) Anyway, I LOVE all those stories. Ever seen Leonardo DiCaprio's Romeo & Juliet? I love that film. I did my final project on that film in my literature class at Hollins last semester.
I had a wonderful teacher in high school and we read 7 of his plays. I tend toward the comedies...A Midsummer Night's Dream, Taming of the Shrew, The Tempest.
Romeo & Juliet is my favorite...but I love most if not all of them...
Shakespeare is timeless. I love the story of Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet and... I could go on and on.
My sons particularly like the movie where they speak in old English but use modern day weapons.
Great photo--that quote is one I refer to frequently. As in, "There is something rotten in this oven!"
What a picture to go with this! I love, love Hamlet
