Book Lovers Unite! I know there are lots of you out there and to celebrate the upcoming event April 12-19, 2009 is National Library Week, I'm going to be offering games, prizes and fun features during this special week.
To celebrate and help spread the love of reading, I’d like to hear what your favorite book(s) of all time happen to be.

Really? Just one? I don't know if I can. It depends on the day. I'm up in the air over Pride and Prej. and Lord of the Rings.
Yeah, there's too many to pick from. So I'll just go with the one book that started it all for me. The Shades, by Betty Brock. I wrote a blog entry about why this is the book that got me into SF reading and writing:

As for libraries, I'm afraid I haven't been to one in years. I know I shouldn't, but I buy all my books. Usually in hardcover. I'm sure the publishing industry just loves me. LOL!
Just one! Oh, that's difficult. I write for children so I read LOTS of gorgeous picture books, tons of mid-grades, and some YAs.
For adult books I read mostly NF. I love the Lord of the Ring series, though.
The first novel that got me hooked was The Robe. I read it in high school and fell in love with historicals.
Book sellers love David. Librarians love me. My local librarians recently awarded me a "frequent reader" card! Now, what in the world do I do with all those point?

Homecoming by Cynthia Voight probably had the most influence on me when I was a kid. Whenever I would feel bad or depressed, the troubles Dicey went through would cheer me up, make me think my life really wasn't that bad.
To this day, I still reread it (and the rest of the series) and have made my three oldest children read it.
That reminds me I have two different books to return to two different libraries this week!
My most entertaining adult book is The Dirt by the members of Motley Crue
Favorite YA Harry Potter series (I miss Harry!)
Favorite picture book- The Giving Tree and Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
I also love the June B. Jones books
Three cheers for books! I loved Little Women. Coming in to tie for second would be Anne of Green Gables and anything by Judy Blume.
Libraries are my favorite places. For books: Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck; My Sister's Keeper, Judy Picoult and The Pleasure of My Company, Steve Martin.

Oh gracious, I couldn't pick just one. I recently bought another book shelf so I wouldn't have to get rid of any. Let's see, my favorite book that I most recently read is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It moved me to tears.
I have to say my all-time favorite book is "Twas the Night Before Christmas"...
When Son was younger, we would snuggle up on the couch and I would read it to him and when he got older, he read it me...so it has special meaning...I know he and I read lots of books when he was younger, but this is the only one that stands out...
My favorite book is Twilight.

Oh, such a hard question. Urgh. I have favorites in different genres.
I take both my babies on walks to libraries, so they can enjoy the sensation of being surrounded by books. To me, that is one of the happiest experiences in the whole world. Inexplicably, my husand isn't so thrilled with my attempt to reproduce this experience in our home.
My all around favorite is still The House at Pooh Corner.
