Young Frankenstein and Psycho

This Halloween season is almost at an end but we have plenty of reasons to celebrate. One reason, this is the 50-year anniversary celebration of the Alfred Hitchcock filming of Psycho and it's the 35th year anniversary of Young Frankenstein.

I love scary movies and I love comedy - and these are two classics that are still watched today. I've never liked gore but most scary movies nowadays are filled with gore. I guess, the truth is, I really enjoy suspense.

What is it you enjoy watching, especially at the holidays (like Halloween) - I mean, what types of movies?

I adore Hitchcock films, and I agree. No gore for me. Gross doesn't mean scary and most of those slasher films work suspense in the same way every time. I saw the Scream movies and they were scary, but not in the same way as Hitchcock. I prefer my chills and thrills delivered more subtly.

I love the old Halloween movies like the original Dracula and Frankenstein. I've watched both already this year. I'm not into the gore or the newer films at all. I also love all the Halloween cartoons -- Charlie Brown, Garfield, Nightmare Before Christmas, etc ...
