Answer: -40 degrees.
You have to know the formula to figure out how to convert celsius to fahrenheit. Most of us haven't done algebra for a while but it's: Fahrenheit = Celsius X 9/5 + 32.
Or t(F) = t(C)x 9/5 +32
t-9t/5 = 32
-4t/5 = 32
t= -40 (so that's the temperature where t(F) = t(C)x 9/5 + 32

So funny! Last week my kids and I were trying to figure out something similar because we saw a bank clock tell the temp in Celsius then Fahrenheit.
So thanks for schooling me!
Meh. I just pull out my iPhone and open up the "iConvert" app which converts, uh, EVERYTHING for me. Temps, volume, weight, measures, legal tender, etc.
EZier Smeazier. Dumber-er. :)
Ok so I totally didn't get that right.
iPhone :0
I use a droid
but I never even thought of that
Yay! Yeah, it's really all about remembering the formula. The equation's a snap if you do.
I do have a C/F outdoor thermometer. One glance shows the -40s line up.
