The Portland Rebuilding Center
Reusing, Recycling and Recrafting can be more than earth-friendly, it can be so beautiful it can be artwork.
And, building - or REbuilding - a bench, arbor or pergola can be expensive but you can cut costs by re-building.
My husband and I love to go to The Rebuilding Center to buy lumber, fencing and even kitchen cabinets.
Sometimes you just need to think before you buy. And Rebuilding Centers can even supply the ideas for you.
When you buy from a community rebuilding center, you help keep material out of the landfills and save a little (or a LOT) of money at the same time.
Plus, when you're done with your project, you can donate left over building materials and start the cycle all over again.
You might have a local rebuilding center in your neighborhood, just do a quick google search to find out.

If its eco friendliness that you are looking for then top marks. There are some great eco friendly window and doors at http://www.onestopbuildshop.co.uk/materials
We have a Habitat for Humanity store in our town, which is a great resource. We were able to get some of the materials for our house there when we were building. Ditto for our garden shed, which is nearly done.
I'll have to look around here and see if we have something like that. I'm not sure we do.
I've never seen anything like that, but I imagine there must be one around her somewhere. It's a great concept.
I didn't even know there were such places...I knew about REbuilding for huge projects, but didn't realize I could use it...I'll look for a place near me. Thanks!
Thanks for the info! I will have to check this out. Maybe they have one a little closer to me than Portland.
These places are great! I'm off to the Restore on monday. Reduce, reuse, recycle!
We have this--it's Habitat ReStore (for Habitat for Humanity) and it's a real gem! LOVE how it helps everyone.
post it if you find it.
Stop by my blog when you get a chance. There’s something there for you to pick up…
I didn't know they had those places. I'll have to check here. We're champion repurposing builders. On my 'blawhg' blog I talk a lot about the recycled materials we use on our farm. It's fun to go scavenging, but sometimes it would really be nice to just go shopping for the stuff.
