Murphy's Law - The Christmas Chaos Has Already Begun

Murphy's Law says, "If anything can go wrong, it will." Notice the left-hand side of the lights.

“I try to take one day at a time - but sometimes several days attack me at once.” Jennifer Unlimited-

Wouldn’t you know it, my husband and I spent all day getting out the decorations, going through the lights, putting them up. We checked every strand before we started to string them, but . . . as you can see, a section is out. I keep telling myself – people aren’t perfect. Patience…patience…patience… I had a lot of practice at this art of patience, when the kids were little - but that was a long time ago.

“I have yet to hear a man ask for advice on how to combine marriage and a career.” Gloria Steinem-

Marriage and a career – that’s nothing, try adding kids into the equation – especially at the holidays.

We, Moms, want to pretend we’re perfect - at least for our kids - but Christmas is no time to pretend. . . at least when it comes to perfection. ‘Cause, come on, you might as well admit it right now, parents aren’t perfect. Heck, like I said, people aren’t perfect.

(So, tomorrow, we’ll redo the lights.)

And, here's my one helpful holiday site for you. I'm hoping this might help make your holidays a little happier and maybe even run a little smoother: if you're looking for a holiday recipe, just click here. Maybe, with the help of an EZ recipe, you'll be able to pretend you're perfect.

LOL at your lights. The top half of our Christmas tree is already dark. It might have to stay that way since the lights are underneath a lifetime of ornaments, and my motivation to fix it is nil.

Hee hee -- this reminds me of Christmas Vacation when Clark spends all day on his lights. He finally gets them going and his FIL comes out and says, "The little twinkling lights aren't twinkling." Such a classic scene.

They look great, Kim, even if they're not light up. ;)

When we were driving around last night, I noticed that so many people have already put up their lights! It is so beautiful! Good luck with that stubborn section! My husband doesn't hang them on the house, but puts them on some bushes and trees. I love that quote from Gloria Steinem! Though I have to admit, my husband has told his boss a few times that family is his first priority, not work. Luckily his boss thought it was a good thing and was touched by it!

is there anything less frustrating than Christmas lights? i wonder...
your house does look charming, anyway.

I love this time of the year...going for drives and looking at everyone's decorations...I'm in the car going "ooh and aah" and Hubs in the car going "they have too many decorations"...

I think he says this so I won't ask him to put decorations up at our house...grin...

Your decorations look great!!! Only Santa Claus has perfect decorations and he has hundreds of elves to help him...grin..

Happy Holidays

Kelly -- I noticed that too. For us, we put up our little outdoor light up trees already simply because the ground was starting to freeze. We don't have any snow yet, but I imagine a lot of people want to put theirs up before the snow gets here.

We have always put our lights up the day after Thanksgiving. I am like a little kid - I just can't wait. But it's a rule, one holiday THEN the other. So no holiday frog leaping.
