THOUGHT FOR THURSDAY
QUESTION: The Menorah's center candle is used to light all the other candles but why is the Menorah eight armed for Hanakkah, as opposed to seven armed as the traditional style of the Menorah in the temple?
I think the extra is to overlap Hanukkah in Israel. Their holidays are off by a day from ours and American Jews like to share the holidays with their Israeli cousins.

I do know that the 8 symbolizes how the oil lit the candle miraculously for eight days, but I don't know why the temple has 7....
