Pints to Pasta - Fundraiser RUN

It was an early run, which might be a good thing because it wasn't hot-yet. I had to get up at 6:00 a.m. to meet up with my sister and Melissa to head to the starting point.

It was Sunday, September 13, 2009 and this was the second time I've done the run to help raise money for a couple good causes. It's the Pints to Pasta. The bad thing was I wasn't prepared. I hadn't run for a loooooooooooong time. Luckily I made it to the finish. Of course it was only a 10K run or 6.2 miles. But. . . there's always next year.

I am going to be so much more prepared for this run, next time. No. REALLY.

The run helps raise money for The Raphael House of Portland and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's TEAM IN TRAINING. A huge thanks is owed to the sponsors: Adidas, Widmer, The Old Spaghetti Factory, Jamba Juice and Portland Running Company for making this event happen.

I am so impressed you did that run. It takes time and effort to go out there and do something like you did. Great job!

So impressed, too. Good job, Kim! I never did a charity run before, but I do run a lot so I really should one day.

Did you run the entire 10k, or walk some of it? I run that same distance every sunday on my treadmill, but it's quite daunting if I haven't done it a while.

Only a 10K??? That is a long way! Congrats on the finish and doing it for a great cause!

Thanks Christina, Kelly, GG and Brenda.

David: Okay the truth comes out - I wogged it.

I ran, um, okay, jogged the first mile, walked a quarter mile, jogged and so on and so on . . . but I finished. And, I cut 6 minutes off my time from last year!!!

I was a runner - 30+ years ago, in high school, which was a Loooonnng time ago.

You really should do a charity run - they are SO much fun :) - even though I'm hurting today :(

Good for you! Only a 10K??? I'm getting winded just thinking about it.

Wow. I'm in awe. I don't think I could even run 500 feet without being out of breath!

Kim, in no way does that take away from your accomplishment. I'm of the mind set that it's more important you finish your goal no matter what whenever I run. So whether you walked part of the way or not -- you still did a 10k. Which is, like, friggin AMAZING! :)

And, yeah, I need to be more proactive like you. I have no excuse.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words.

Amy: Believe me, my legs are aching today.

I haven't hurt like this since I went to Basketball camp back in 8th grade--or a LONNNNNNNNNNG time ago, so next year I'm going to train first.

Good work, Kim. And if you start training now, next year's will be easy!

Outstanding!! I like to bike or walk very fast. Just never enjoyed running. I always feel like I look like a dork.
