Thanks! I've seen these alot when we've been on road trips in North Dakota and Iowa. Pretty cool.

I've seen those in Wisconsin and Iowa, too. I love it. I think more states should use these. Why aren't more local governments doing this if it seems there is enough wind power in the area??I love how our local Chipotle has a windmill next to it! My father in law is looking into using windmills at his vacation home.

We have some in Wisconsin--D and I are studying turbines and solar panels trying to figure out which will be better to get us "off the grid."

I'd love to live where I could use a windmill. They're great.

Cool!

GG: I could never consider solar power - not in Portland, Oregon where we are known for our rain and gray skies.

I love these windmills tho.

Kelly: What a cool FIL you have :)

We have field behind our house and a school on the other side of the field. My PTA friends are always teasing me that the school district is planning windmills for the field...I've got great mtn views and my friends love to see me sweat. Maybe I need new friends. :)

I'll definitely check it out. We do live in what the native Americans called Land of the Devil Wind. Xenia is well known for its 1974 tornado. We looked into it once. The turbines have become much more compact than they were then. We've seen some small roof-mounted ones.

Lily: that is sooooo cool. I wish I could get a roof-mounted windmill.

Maybe . . .

Wind mills are so cool. We have some on top of a mountain near us.

They are all over Europe, didn't know they were becoming more popular in the US too.
