Go Green - While You Clean

Spring cleaning anyone? It might not sound like fun but it will be helpful to everyone

Too many clothes hanging around? Drawers overloaded?

Thrift stores are looking for “pre-owned” clothes. So, you can donate clothes, clean up your closet, and help less fortunate people all at the same time.

And if you're looking to make a little more money in the process, and you have the energy to put on your own sale, check out the Yard Sale Queen's tips.

Go green - while you clean!

We are going to be doing some spring cleaning soon. We have to move to a new apartment next year because our school is doing construction on the one we're in. So we will be cleaning out everything not needed. Big task!

Every spring and fall when I switch wardrobes I take whatever I haven't worn in the last year or so to one of several thrift shops, where I also buy most of my clothes. I've gotten brand new stuff for a few dollars. And, if I don't wear it, or it gets stained or something, I don't feel bad about tossing it. I haven't spent a lot of money on it.

Christina: I hope I never have to move. I bought the house I grew up in from my parents - and it would be one humongous chore to sort through everything.

Bish: I wish I was as good about throwing things out - unfortunately I am an absolute clutter queen - I save things I haven't used in 30 years.

Thinning out the drawers is something I've been meaning to get to...hopefully over the spring break.

BTW, thanks for the Lemonade Stand nom on Wednesday - I've been away so I just saw it. :)

Oh, I had to bookmark that yardsale site. I love yardsales. Rick says I'm pretty neurotic when it comes to organizing my own. Definitely need to do some spring cleaning around here. I'm going to start with my bedroom today. It's looking pretty ... well, lived in!

Thanks for the Yard Sale Queen link...I have family members who have yard sales every other weekend and the weekends they aren't having the sale, they are visiting them...grin...

I used to love yard sales - until I ran out of space in my house.
