I wanted to make a cake that looked like a book because Marjorie likes to read especially memoirs. It didn't turn out as nice as I would have liked but I learned a few things. So, maybe next time it will be better.
I started with a cardboard cake stand.
After my husband helped me put it together, I embellished it with some ribbon
Then I decorated the cake but I had problems with the fondant cracking but before I even got to that step the cake fell a little in the center...
All in all, a cake fail. But still it was a fun attempt... I guess I'll just have to get rid of the evidence, by eating my mistake ;)

Well, there are worse ways to deal with failure...
I'm baking a layer cake today for tomorrow night's book club. Hopefully there is no failing!

Cool idea, and it looks yummy to me. I haven't tried to work with fondant...you are more adventurous than I am.
