Earth Friendly Friday - People Tree

A Little Love for Valentine's Day

This is a fun way to celebrate by making a grain heart for birds and squirrels. It's a thoughtful way to show a little love.

INGREDIENTS:

3 cups birdseed
2 – 1/4 ounce unflavored gelatin packet
heart-shaped cookie cutters or candy molds
twine

Sprinkle two packages of gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water. Let it sit a couple of minutes until gelatin has absorbed the water. Heat 1 3/4 cups water in a pan, then add in the gelatin mixture. Stir until dissolved. Stir in 3 cups birdseed.
Allow mixture to cool until gelatin is thick and coats all the birdseed.

Work twine into the heart and hang it for the birds to enjoy!

Super BOWL this Sunday

And it's the Seattle Seahawks v. the Denver Broncos!

That's the first time in . . . forever that I could name both teams playing in the Super BOWL! But West Coast gaming is going to be at its best this weekend. And that means, West Coast munching is going to go maniacal.

So, to make the party special (and yes, I'm even going to a Super BOWL party--my first one ever.) No. I'm not a big fan of football but this should be fun...right? So, anyway, it's a potluck. And why is it that whenever I hear "super BOWL", all I'm thinking about is food and what I'm going to be packing to the party ;D

Hum...

And, I've been trying to figure out recipes...

I even checked out this link. And, Saturday I'll be taste testing a few different things.

But, I'm leaning toward my bacon date wraps ;D They might not be the prettiest at the party but I can guarantee they'll be a quick party-pickup ;D

How 'bout you...any plans for Super BOWL Sunday?

Viking Glass

Have you ever heard of Viking Glass?

I hadn't either. But this weekend I went to a glass show and saw a vase just like one my Mom had when I was growing up and I had to buy it. When I started to talk to the sale's woman, she said, "So you're a collector of Viking Glass?"

Well I hadn't been before this weekend...or at least I didn't know I was. But when I took home the vase, I found that I had a few other vases just like this--only different colors.

If you're interested, you can look on ebay and see more here.

Hamlet's Castle

Friday is a good day to dream. . . of things to come, and things that have been.

This is Kronborg Castle, also known as Hamlet's Castle. I've been lucky to visit this castle a few times in my life. It's in my hubby's hometown of Elsinore, Denmark. What s a beautiful sight!

And this archway creates the perfect view and I can close my eyes and dream. . .

Valentine's Day is Coming

So I thought I'd share a few of my past valentine's day projects, like this hand-made felt heart.

And this hand-made paper heart project.

And these cake projects and this one too.

So that should be enough projects to keep you busy until Valentine's Day.
