Wateringhole Wednesday - Mocktails

Margaritas are probably my favorite alcoholic drink in the world but they are soooooo fattening. So when a friend told me about Crystal Lite Margarita mix, I thought, "Why Not?" Especially when my friend brought me one of the packets and said, "Here, try it--you might like it." 

So, I did.

The only thing is that Crystal Lite says to add eight cups of water---waaaaayyyyyyy too much water. Then the drink will taste like LITEly flavored water. Don't follow the rules, just this one time. Listen to me, only add about four to five cups of water. Then add your shot of tequila and blend with ice.

Of course I have to salt the rim - because that's almost the best part - for me. 

I guess I'm a bit like a horse, I love a salt lick - and I do...lick the rim to get every bit of that salty goodness.

I'm not saying it's as good as a regular sugary-sweet margarita but this is a good option if you, like me, are counting calories.

Tip for Tuesday - Repurpose old File Folders

I was popping around on Pinterest and I found this wonderful idea over at Authentique's Blogspot. We  all have manila file folders sitting around and what a wonderful way to repurpose some recycled folders.

The Bridge Pedal

Sunday was spent riding...and riding...and riding. I did the 8 bridge 24 mile bridge pedal. It was a lot of fun but we had bike problems along the way. Still we shared some great views of the city and came away with some fun pictures.

I was just over reading my cyber-friend's blog, The Happy Whisk, and found out about this contest. Now I'm wondering which recipe I should use...hum...what is your favorite recipe..a cake, a cookie, a cozy banana bread...?

Wednesday Watering Hole

Okay I'm not a big drinker by anyone's standard but this drink is supposed to be like a dessert drink. It's called Cabana Banana:

1 shot of 99 bananas (a liquor)

1 shot coconut rum

a splash of Baileys

Pour over ice and add milk or half-n-half to fill the cup

YUMMMM

And this one is like cake in a cup or something like that

I had three of these this weekend:

T H E   S A L T E D   C A R A M E L   M A R T I N I

1 part Butterscotch Snapps

1 part Kahlua 

1 part vodka 

2 parts half-n-half

Prepare your martini glasses by wetting the rims and dipping in crushed seasalt. Pour ingredients over ice into a cocktail shaker, shake, then strain ice out and pour drink into glasses. Then drizzle caramel sauce over the top and around the rim....YUMMMMMILICIOUSNESS!
