March Forward

March is full of celebrations, events and holidays so let's get ready. Did you know it's National Women's History Month?

The Birthstone for this month is: Aquamarine, Bloodstone
The flower of March is the Jonquil

March is also National Nutrition Month, so maybe this would be a good time to start eating a little bit better.

Daylight savings time begins on March 14th (but remember) not all places in the U.S. observe daylight time. Hawaii and most of Arizona do not use it.

And March 2nd is Dr. Seuss' birthday.

We've also got St. Patrick's Day, the First Day of Spring, Palm Sunday and more.

Plus, who could forget, it's spring break in Oregon for all the school kids.

So it looks like we've got a lot to celebrate and even more to get ready because it all begins tomorrow.

LIKE MANNA FROM HEAVEN - Gaming Gear

How 'bout some Manna or maybe a little extra Health?

That's what's contained in these two little vials: Manna and Health.

I know there are accessories that go with every hobby known to mankind. But I never realized there were specific foods that went along with hobbies. I mean--of course--I know about Gatorade for sports and things like that. I just didn't realize that Gaming Gear was a niche market.

My kids have tried to explain this Gaming Gear stuff to me before but I never got it. Then, when my son came home the other night with an energy drink, and my husband asked what it was (I think because he thought it was a beer and probably wanted one too), I was surprised when my son said it was a video-gaming energy drink.

"What?" I said.

I really had no idea there was such stuff. And, come on, a Gaming Energy drink - I mean how much energy does it take to sit in front of a monitor and hit some keystrokes--unless it's to do creative writing, at least I can understand the energy that might take?

But here it is.

I guess it really is true.

I just didn't believe my son when he told me, "it takes Bawls to play video games."

Green Spring - Here's How to JUST DO IT

March Into Spring Being Green

Buy Organic and/or local micro beers or locally grown wine, you’ll be supporting your local farmers and keeping the earth green at the same time.

Plant something green this month: spinach, broccoli, asparagus. It will be fun and festive.

Wear organically grown fabric, cotton, wool, or knit your own sweater out of recycled yarn – yes, it’s out there.

Take part in the Shamrock Run – it’s for a good cause and it will be festive and heart-healthy.

I LIE

Okay it was only a game - I'm not really much of a liar - but then again I do love to write fiction - so maybe I am a liar at heart. . .

Anyway, here are the six lies and one truth:

1. I sang in a girl band back in the 80's.
ANYONE WHO HAS HEARD ME SING KNOWS THIS IS A HUMONGOUS LIE
2. I competed at downhill skiing in high school.
I'M A PRETTY GOOD WATER SKIER BUT I NEVER GO OVER WATERFALLS ON SKIS (MAYBE IN A
KAYAK-WHICH I HAVE DONE A COUPLE OF TIMES) BUT I SUCK AT DOWNHILL SNOW SKIING
3. I was engaged to another man before I married my husband.
MY ONE TRUE LOVE I WAS LUCKY TO MEET WHEN I WAS FAIRLY YOUNG - I WENT TO UofO WHEN I WAS 17 AND MET MY HUSBAND MY FRESHMAN YEAR - WE'VE BEEN TOGETHER EVER SINCE
4. I was voted Best Actress in my high school for Senior Year.
MAYBE I REALLY AM A GOOD LIAR - 'CUZ THIS IS THE ONE TRUTH - AT LEAST, I MUST BE
A GREAT PRETENDER (AND NO ONE GUESSED THIS)
5. I won a dance competition in school.
SEE #1 ABOVE-I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RHYTHM -BUT MY SISTER WON A DANCE COMPETITION
6. I met my husband on a vacation in Europe.
READ 3 ABOVE, I MET MY HUSBAND AT UofO MY FRESHMAN YEAR
